On November 15, 2021, the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia celebrated the 101st anniversary of its foundation in the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. The significance of this anniversary became even more important when we have in mind that the Kingdom of Serbia was one of the 11 countries that signed the Paris Convention from 1883, a fundamental document for the protection of intellectual property rights.
Today, the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia is a modern institution which, as the only competent body for the protection of intellectual property rights in the Republic of Serbia, successfully meets all the challenges of the modern age. One of the goals of the Office is to promote the importance of protecting intellectual property rights, which undoubtedly affects economic and social development. In this regard, a competition was conducted in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to award prizes to outstanding individuals and companies that pay special attention to the protection of intellectual property rights.
Award for domestic company with the highest intensity of using the international trademark registration system during 2021 – the Users’ Trophy award of the World Intellectual Property Organization was awarded to the company Mlekara Šabac, which during 2021, among all domestic companies, had the largest number of internationally registered trademarks.
Mlekara Šabac has over 90 years of tradition in the processing of milk and dairy products. In addition, Mlekara Šabac is one of the leading dairies on the market of the Republic of Serbia, and at the same time it is the largest exporter of dairy products with as much as 70% of exports of its total production, including a very important market of the Russian Federation.
